What “freedom” refers to can be from a collective or very personal viewpoint--it can be a legal definition that is enforceable or a feeling that changes one's reality. This exhibition takes a concerted look at how contemporary artists around the globe “talk” about subjects relating to freedom in their work. This can be referencing past occurrences, tracing a trajectory over time, or pointing to an immediate/very recent experience. The importance of “freedom” is undeniable.
