In the act of describing this painting the title Untangled emerged. A self-portrait with a tangled hand, and in a deeper since a tangled spirit. The act of painting for me is a form untangling from the demands of the outside world and the hindrances of the inside world. I changed the orientation midway through the execution, yet since the face was painted with different hues of black paint turning the painting on its side didn’t pose a problem. Really any signs of a face must be searched out.
