The California Dreamin’ subjects are taken from photographs shot on trips romanticizing the natural forms of Southern California while utilizing the Green, Orange, and Purple Triad. Any time an area is left unpainted restraint plays a role. Graphite serves in mapping out and holding up the composition while the gouache was meant to be kept simple, using opacity and transparency to stimulate visual interest. It’s hard to stop with so few marks made, but I managed it.
