This predominately blue painting took on hieroglyphic attitude as I progressed on it. The painting led me to blend my subjects: the slaughtered Bison of the Home on the Range series and imagery based on sketches made from cave painting imagery, although in this case the cave imagery was improvised. On the surface I also mix my approach to painting and mark making. There are areas of washes and drips. There are brushy/blendy areas. There is line work and spontaneous mark making. Collapsing illusional space became intentional halfway through the composition.
