While this painting feels predominately red it has a complementary color scheme. 

There are contrasting thin washes and drips with highly marked areas. These marked areas are divided into streaks of brushed areas and areas where paint has been mixed straight on the canvas. The red forms have been modeled into weighty sculptural forms which sink into the soft earth.
